Yesterday Katapult and friends completed the Cooper Parry 10k Business Team Challenge dressed as Dora’s fairies in yellow and purple tutu’s and glittery angel wings.

It was an honour for us to run with Cathy in memory of her beautiful daughter Dora Brittain and the Dora’s Library charity and we couldn’t be prouder of our team.

Spurred on by the cause, our outfits and the massive amounts of cheers and support we received from spectators in Derby yesterday, we all beat our personal best times. Well done to the Katapult men who all finished in under an hour and to the Katapult lady fairies who along with Cathy and friends finished with a sprint around Pride Park Stadium and came in at 1:06:00.

Numerous pictures were taken of us in our striking outfits, more of which can be seen on the Katapult Flickr stream as well as Senior Designer Martin’s Flickr stream and The Derby Evening Telegraph’s online article.

Derby 10k challenge for Katapult team in support of Dora’s Library

The Katapult team are currently gearing up for the Derby 10k run in support of a charity project very close to our hearts.

Training efforts are proving to be a real fitness challenge for the team, but the real commitment lies in helping raise money for Dora’s Library.

Dora’s parents Cathy and Ashley are raising money to create a magical memorial library at Ashbrook Infant School in Borrowash in memory of their beautiful little girl Dora who died suddenly due to a rare infection in January 2010, the day before her 6th birthday.

They want to create a cosy and enchanting library space with a sprinkling of Dora magic which will be used by all the current and future children at school and allow Dora’s amazing imagination and love of language and stories to live on. Final details need to be decided but ideas range from an enchanted story tree to a small tent where pupils can hide away and let their imaginations run free.

Dora’s mum Cathy worked at Katapult from 2004 – 2008 and will be joining the team in the 10K run on the 3rd April. We will all be running in tutus and angel wings and sprinkling magic dust in honour of Dora’s love of fairies.

The team have been dedicated to the challenge, running at weekends and during the evenings so there have been a lot of aches and pains in the studio.

Katapult MD Dawn says: ‘Obviously any funds we can raise from the team doing the 10K challenge will be fantastic and much appreciated. We are all enjoying the training – the head space it provides is every bit as valuable as the exercise.”

About £15,000 is needed to create the library. Cathy and Ashley have raised about a third of that amount through various fundraising initiatives, including making and selling hand-painted personalised name plaques. Katapult are now hoping to contribute to the fund and aim to raise between £500-£1,000 by completing the Cooper Parry 10k Business Team Challenge.

The team are now appealing to all of our friends, families, clients and suppliers to sponsor us to run!

Anyone who would like to donate can make an online BACS payment to:
