When you want someone to do something, the best thing to do is ask. This has long been the case and it is just as true in marketing as it is for children with messy bedrooms. Dan Zarella, HubSpot’s social media scientist in residence, recently carried out some research seeing just how much influence calls-to-action had on content engagement. The results were quite surprising.

Gamification key statistics

  • $100m was spent on gamification in 2010
  • 70% of Forbes Global 2000 companies planned to use gamification for marketing and customer retention in 2011
  • 80% of gamified applications fail because of poorly designed business objectives
  • Cisco systems increased sales between 8 – 12% through gamification
  • DevHub increased the number of users who completed online tasks from 10% to 80% by using gamification

Infographic: 24 months of Syria conflict

In response to the deteriorating humanitarian situation in Syria, the Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) has launched an appeal on Thursday 21 March to help people affected by the conflict. To raise awareness of the situation, Merlin has published an infographic (designed by Katapult) showing the results of 24 months of conflict in the region.
